I’m Samantha Westerlund and I’m so excited for this opportunity to share my story with you on how I ended up supporting mothers through Pace Success Coaching!

I’m a wife and mother of two boys in the throes of toddlerhood (with one on the way). I’m also a stepmother to two grown boys (in their twenties) – I’m lucky to be part of an amazing, modern, blended family. My professional experience includes working as a public high school educator for over twelve years and five years’ experience working in residential real estate.

For the last four+ years, I have been juggling the demands of being a wife, parent and proud “working mama” with multiple careers and interests. I know what it means to feel overloaded and mentally-spent. It’s taken me some time to figure out how to best handle it all, and I’m a constant work-in-progress (especially now that we are adding one more baby to the mix!)

My passion is connecting with other mothers who want to live intentionally, find authentic happiness and create a life of personal and professional significance!

When I was younger, just out of college at the University of Pittsburgh, my dream was always to get a nice, secure job as a public-school teacher, to get married, have children and create the “perfect” family. For me, that meant looking like one of the families in a JC Penny catalogue – happy, healthy and coordinating perfectly! “I just knew I would be content” once I hit all those important milestones of adulthood and my life looked the way I had always envisioned it. I had a boyfriend at the time, and my plans included marrying him and raising our family in my hometown.

Six years into our relationship, I faced the first of many decisions that would take me down a very different path. I realized how unfilled my boyfriend and I both were in our relationship, and despite the difficulty of ending a relationship of six years, I decided to leave.

It was the first time in my life that I prioritized what felt right to me rather than what looked right to the outside world.

I moved out of the town I had grown up in and ended up in a committed relationship with a much older man who was divorced and had two teenage children – not necessarily the picture-perfect person to start a family alongside! But I was so happy in this new relationship. I concluded early on that it didn’t really matter what looked good on paper – what mattered was how I felt.

A little while after we got married, I also started thinking a lot about my professional life. I was very interested in what I was reading about Success Principles and the Law of Attraction. I really immersed myself in those teachings and decided that I wanted to share what I had learned with others.

Around the same period in my life, I became a mom for the first time, eventually having two handsome and healthy baby boys. I had checked off another item on my list of important milestones, but…

I realized quickly that motherhood was a lot more work than I ever imagined!

While I was very interested in pursuing different professional endeavors and building a life in my new community, I instead found myself sleep-deprived and mentally and emotionally spent. With my first boy especially, I suffered from post-partum depression that lasted several months. It was difficult and scary becoming a mother and I still felt like I had goals I wanted to attain but had no time to make that happen!

About six months after my second son was born, I decided to take control of my life. I knew I was passionate about sharing everything I had learned with others, so I founded Pace Success Coaching with my sister and invested time and money to train with Jack Canfield, the co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series and the author of The Success Principles.

I left my babies, at the time 2 years and 10 months old, for 9 days as I traveled to California where I became a certified trainer with Jack and learned how to implement his process into my work through Pace. The whole experience was life-changing and one of the best decisions I ever made in my own personal development.

I discovered that my purpose is to help and guide other mothers using the knowledge and skills I have acquired through my years of studying and my work with the Canfield group.

My passion is working with mothers in transition – coaching women as they begin the journey of motherhood or those moms who need someone alongside them after they’ve checked all the boxes and started to ask, “now what?”

So now, let me ask you:

  • Do you feel that in the quest to love your children and be a kickass wife and mother, you’ve lost yourself in the process?
  • Do you often feel like you are living someone else’s life? Maybe it’s the life you always thought you wanted, but now it just doesn’t fit quite right?
  • Do you have personal or professional goals but can’t ever find the time to actually accomplish them?
  • Do you find yourself out of patience and emotionally drained most days?

I promise, I’ve been there too!

But by taking the principles of success, which have inspired countless others to accomplish amazing goals, and applying them to my life as a full-time working mother and wife, I have been able to accelerate my journey towards living intentionally and creating a life filled with happiness that is authentic to me and the person I am today.

Xo,
